When did Thanksgiving begin?

Thanksgiving originally bgun as a harvest festival and has been celebrated on and off nationally since 1789 and as federal holiday has been celebrated since 1863, during the American Civil War where President Lincoln proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving. The 'First Thanksgiving' as it is commonly known was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in October 1621 which was attended by 90 Native Americans and 53 Pilgrims.

How can I celebrate Thanksgiving?

There are lots of ways to celebrate Thanksgiving, mostly it is celebrated with big, wholesome meals full of turkey and pumpkin pies, parades, football, family and friends and a space to give thanks to people, good things and events in people's lives.

What are Thanksgiving traditions?

There are many traditions on Thanksgiving, one of the most famous is finding the turkey's wishbone and holding one end and finding another person to hold the other end, make a wish and pull. Whoever gets the larger piece of the wishbone gets their wish to come true! Another tradition involves the US president! Each year the President pardons a turkey from being eaten, the last Turkey pardoned was a 45-pound turkey called Courage.
