The Super Bowl!

The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) and the most anticipated and exciting sporting event in the US along with the countdown to a big star's half-time performance!

When is the Super Bowl?

Super Bowl 52 will be on Sunday, February 4 2018 at the state-of-the-art US Bank Stadium in Granted, Minneapolis. The exact kickoff time is yet to be determined and will be set at a later date.

Why is Super Bowl special?

32 teams compete for the championship and, ulike other professional sports leagues, the NFL decides their champion with only one. This winner-takes-all format adds to the drama of the game and sets the stage for an exciting finale to each NFL season.

How many people will watch the Super Bowl?

The stadium can seat 66,200 people but can be extended to fit up to 70,000 people. This Super Bowl will be the first game in Minnesota since 1992. The game will be televised in the US by NBC and shown to over 100 million sports and entertainment fans in over 170 countries. It is the most-watched single-day sporting event in the world.

What other events will there be around the Super Bowl?

There is the half-time show of course, where either one performer or a series of performers sing and dance. Previous Super Bowl half-time shows include Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Coldplay. There will also be the 2018 Saint Paul Winter Carnival, where there will be a large ice palace built last about ten years ago. There are also the commercials in between the game that many people love watching.

Is Super Bowl Sunday a national holiday?

It might as well be! It is not just an ordinary day in the US, it is somewhat a national holiday.

Tip: Wait until the countdown hits 0 if you're in for a treat!
