International Day of Peace!

International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day, was created in 1981 by the United Nations to foster and strengthen ideals of peaceful coexistence. As Mother Teresa once said, "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other."

When is International Day of Peace?

International Day of Peace will be on Friday, 21 September 2018. This years theme will be 'Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.'

Why do we celebrate International Day of Peace?

The day is celebrated each year to recognise those who have worked hard to end conflict, promote peace and to have a day of ceasefire - both personally and politically.

How can I get involved?

This year the focus for International Peace Day is on engaging and mobilizing people throughout the world to show support for refugees and migrants. To get involved people can volunteer to welcome and help refugees and migrants into their communities. Other ways to get involved include creating a public activity related to peace, or attend an event in your community.

Tip: Wait until the countdown hits 0 if you're in for a treat!
